Local gym junkies are being treated to a collection of new equipment and training spaces following the reopening of Snap Fitness Kalgoorlie’s newly refurbished facilities.
The Boulder Road gym was closed for about a week and officially reopened last Thursday when members were able to use new cardio machines and other specialised equipment for the first time.
Snap Fitness Kalgoorlie club manager Sam Howard said the project was designed to improve user experience and support the gym’s growing membership.
“We just wanted to give back to our members because we have been here about five years and gym facilities can look a little tired and worn out after few years,” she said.
“Functional centres in particular are really big at the moment for all sorts of training so it’s all about giving people something new and making sure we have a big variety of equipment.”
The refurbishment will also allow the gym to hire more local personal trainers to help people achieve their fitness goals, but Ms Howard said the benefits of regularly exercising were not just physical.
“Going to the gym is great for your mental wellbeing and we have people who come in and chat with their workmates all the time,” she said
“It’s quite a social environment where you can meet new people or just wind down after work.”
Ms Howard said the gym was also hoping to reintroduce group fitness classes to its program in the near future.
